Coconut Jam
Traditionally, jam is an appetizer for every meetings in Lunar New Year, the time of transition between the old year and the new lunar year, a time when heaven and earth are in harmony. In the traditional culinary culture of Vietnamese New Year, in addition to "meat fat, melon and onions, red couplets, trees, firecrackers, green banh chung", every house has Tet jam. Jam cake, in addition to being used to worship ancestors, used to make a tea party, also contains a treasure of profound philosophical stories about life. Showing respects to gods such as Earth god, Rain god, Thunder god, Water god, Sun god,... and pray for a year of favorable rain and wind, and bountiful crops. Coconut jam: According to some ancient bibliographies, coconut trees from Hung Vuong's time existed in the northern Linh Nam region of our country. Due to the pronunciation of "da zi", it is close to the same sound as "Gia Tu" which means adding children and grandchildren. Coconut trees have roots that cling to the soil very well, so they are often planted near the banks of rivers, ditches and canals.
